Oh, Hello!
I’m a tinkerer, a bodge artist, a basher! Whether it be cars, websites, or my own home lab. Sometimes that may lead to things coming apart at the seams, but that’s all right. It’s just another opportunity to bash, bash again! I have, however, learned an arcane art. One the Jedi wouldn’t tell you about… git! It’s great; when I break it, I can just roll it back. Makes life much easier. Unfortunately, that does not tend to work in the physical world, though! Regardless, if you’re seeing this, I must be doing something right, eh?
I do happen to be transgender, and that does, in fact, influence my understanding and view of the world—it would be hard for it not to. Things one comes to take for granted can tend to backfire when you’re true to yourself, but living as my best self takes precedence over any empty safety to be found in hiding who I truly am. So… hi! She/her are my pronouns, if you were wondering.
Going through the 2020s in my twenties certainly is one hell of a ride. Though, I like to think it’s made me far better at this whole “life” thing than I would have turned out otherwise. Growing up in Hawaii, I feel, led me to quite a keen sense of injustice. Even ignoring the bigger picture of the whole occupation, overthrow, and eventual absorption into a foreign power by pineapple-farming capitalists, the stark contrast between multi-million-dollar homes and destitution right next to each other really made a young me think. Surely, we as a species can do better for each other, ね? Nowadays, whole islands are caught up in the ruthless accumulation of wealth. It’s hard to look at without being a little sickened.
Nowadays, I choose to reside in Oregon, along with my lovely wife-to-be. Nowhere near as rainy as it once was, but still, I find it a very pleasant home. The peace one can find out amongst the woods with nothing but your boots, the clothes on your back, a rifle (Forest Service, we miss you; it’s dangerous out here…), and your thoughts is very soothing. Besides what Oregon is known for, there’s plenty more to her than just a stopover between LA and Seattle. Give us a try sometime! Though, do be prepared for the standard Oregon greeting of a glare should you bring on some fake pleasantries. If you’re looking for eats, The Sassy Onion, Akai Ramen, and WinCo (yes, seriously—cheap and tasty!) are some great Salem options!
